Post 4

So, I'm a little behind on the updates... Here's a condensed version of events...

Tuesday:

Gem, Piper and I venture into the city and head to McDonalds for lunch. Not my first choice, mind, but Piper likes it. The weather really doesn't know what it's doing - rain, sun, more rain, sun... Just when we dry off, we get wet again. Yuck. Gemma recently bought herself a cheap dance-mat thing for her PS2, and was after a game for it, so we trawled the city to see what was about. The store in the Castle Mall had nothing, but luckily for us, Game had a few. Hurrah! When we got home again, it was time for Piper's tea and then her bedtime. Once Piper was sound asleep, out came the dance-mat and I laughed my socks off at Gemma bouncing around like an idiot, after she'd discovered that her "calories burned" level went up if she bounced like a maniac and didn't follow the arrows. Then it was time to get ticked off, trying to play a Harry Potter game. Ah, fun times!

Wednesday - The Great Tesco Adventure:

With it being a Wednesday, this meant that it was Shopping Day. Gemma's Mum, Edna, normally drives her to Tesco in Sprowston once a week, but today she was in pain after going to see her physiotherapist, so we got on a bus instead. Once there, we had fun trying to push the trolley and in the end decided that Piper would go in the trolley that Gemma pushed, while I battled with the buggy. We probably had more fun than was actually necessary... At least it wasn't a boring shopping trip! We got a taxi home, and I stayed with Piper and watched Bob the Builder whilst Gemma sorted out Piper's tea. We'd have ours when she'd gone to bed. After tea, it was time for more PS2 fun but didn't get very far with the Harry Potter game. I think I had more fun watching Gemma play than trying to play it myself...! I'm so easily amused! Just before bed, I found a "pet" - yep, a spider. Luckily it was only a tiny one. I did manage to trap it under a mug, but I forgot to tell Gem and it escaped... but not before Ruby bopped it, scared both it and herself, and then it disappeared. Ah, well... Once again, I begged for a thunder storm, because it was so damn hot. Once again, my request was denied. Bugger.

Thursday:

Gemma and Piper did their usual and went out for a day in the city with Gemma's friend Becca and her children. Piper likes to call Becca "Uncle Becca" - for some reason she can't get her head around "Aunty Becca". Bless. I stayed in and tried to do some more research for uni stuff, got fed up at going in circles, gave up and played with Ruby instead. Lasange for tea - yum. Piper and I had "special" lasagne. Yay for us! I made like Garfield and snarfed the lot... I was more than full by then, but I was happy! What a pig I am! When Gem and I went to bed, I finally got my storm! Hurrah!

Friday:

Both Gem and I were up early because we both had to head for the library. Gemma does a computer course at the library, while I had to find a book, and email a load of people. Fun. Once again, a lot of "work" was done, but nothing much was accomplished. Typical. Later in the day there was more thunder and lightning, and a lot of rain! Glad I had my brolly with me! Despite this, I still managed to get wet, so I ducked into the NCRC and waited for it to stop a bit. It didn't, so I ventured out anyway and headed for Anglia Square. My brain was slightly fried from trying to find stuff that refused to be found, so I decided I'd take a break and watch Harry Potter in the little cinema at Anglia Square. Hurrah for massive student discounts! Yay!

Saturday:

Saturday was a lazy day. The three of us (Gem, Piper and myself) were up for about two hours before all three of us went back to bed! I woke up just after 3pm - Gem and Piper were still fast asleep, so I got dressed again, and snuck out as quietly as I could and headed for Anglia Square where I hunted out a 13 amp fuse, after the one in the microwave went poof. Whilst out, I headed into the city centre and sent out yet more emails for my research and found a lovely reply from Frank Turner. Brilliant. Slightly miffed that was the only reply to all my emails, but it's a nice start all the same. When I got home, Gemma had made a tuna and pasta bake for tea. Yummy! Loads of veg in it too! Hurrah for vegetables! Piper went to bed around 7-ish, and Gem and I watched pants TV, followed by NCIS: Gibbs = yummy.... Abbie = yummier. In fact, the whole cast are pretty tasty. Ok, so I'm shallow! We had to stay awake as long as Piper was awake. Unlucky for us, Piper didn't actually go to sleep until gone 11pm.

Sunday:

Today Piper was grumpy. Very grumpy. Oh dear. If I didn't know better, I'd say the kid hated me: I put her Dora the Explorer balloon in the corner so I could tidy up the lounge - she screamed like someone was killing her; I pack away her Martian game in its box - again, she screams like someone's killing her and demanded it was left out, depsite the fact she didn't want to play with it. Then, Gemma's mum arrived to take us all to Wroxham for the afternoon at her house... but not before stopping off at "Uncle Eric's" house, where Piper broke a glass placemat, tried to throw a wobbler by laying down and hiding her face... only to realise she was sat on a chair and couldn't. Afterwards, we went to Nanny and Grandad's house. Piper and I were treated to cheese sandwiches and crisps for lunch - yummy! Piper was put to bed in the hope that she'd wake up in a better mood. Edna went to sleep in the armchair, Bill went back to bed, Gemma ran a bath and I occupied myself with a cross-stich: I'm making a name-plate for my nephew Charlie. Everybody's then all awake - well, apart from Piper, and I set the table for dinner. Roast chicken. Yay! Piper refuses to eat anything - even the strawberry Angel Delight didn't get eaten. Oh dear... and we're back to the grumpiness. Lovely. After dinner, Bill had a snooze and the rest of us (Edna, Gemma, Catherine, David and myself) went into the garden. Uncle David "blew up" (read: sneezed), and Catherine tells Piper to poke Uncle David again to see if he'll "blow up" again. Right on cue, David "sneezes" again, leaving us ladies to attempt to sneak back inside whilst Piper is otherwise entertained. Our plan is helped along by a sudden downpour of heavy rain and we all run back inside. Piper is put in "bed clothes" and then Bill drives us back to Gemma's, where Piper is put to bed and Gem and I watch The Pacifier. Gemma tried to convince me that Vin Diesel is "fit". I'm not convinced one bit. Oh well...
